 Assemblage Box going to ArtsBenicia

"Untitled Assemblage Box" is going to ArtsBenicia for an exhibit named "Fragments - the art of collage and assemblage".  Here is the link to their page:

I recently finished this found objects assemblage box, and submitted it to a juried call for art at Arts Benicia, in Benicia, CA. which is known as arts town. I have not had a chance to name it yet. Sometimes it takes quite a while to understand what the art is saying to me, so I could name it. It might have a name yet!

I collect junk all the time on my walks in the city and in nature, also from various papers and mags. My studio space is very small so I put them on paper plates stacked on top of each other or, if they are three-dimensional, in plastic boxes that vegetables come in. I wish I had space for a large table so I could spread out more, but we have to work with what we have...I am usually working on a painting and an assemblage simultaneously; when I get tired of one, or don't know where to go with the next step, I switch from one to the other, and usually I know what to do when I return to the other piece.

New Beginnings — the art of transformation

I thought I would share a few photos from the Reception at the Main Library on January 13.  The first one is a composite that my husband Onyx made in Photoshop from several photos of friends and the organizer Khary-Dvorak Ewell. I was so glad that so many of my friends were able to attend the reception. The flowers were from my dear friend Sarah as I did win first prize. And my dear friend Colette gave me an application for my Mac called "starry night pro" as she knows my love of astronomy.

The exhibit of prints continues on the third floor through March 6, 2015.

New Beginnings: The Art of Transformation

My image was chosen for the cover of this postcard announcing an art exhibit at the SF Main Library, 100 Larkin St., San Francisco.

Two of my other paintings were chosen for this exhibit. Since the Library did not have insurance, they decided to make hi-res prints and exhibit those instead of the originals. However, the originals will be on sale through the exhibit organizers.
